Coach setup

Three steps, and the coach runs on your account.

Strobe’s AI coach is optional and off until you switch it on. It runs on an AI account of your own — Anthropic, OpenAI or Google — connected once with a key you create yourself. Everything else in the app works without one.

1 · Your coach, your account

The coach reads your swing through an account you own. Nothing is sent until you ask for a review, and then only that swing’s measurements and a handful of still key frames. The video stays on the phone unless you switch on Send the clip to the coach, which only Google’s models offer. Your key is kept in the iPhone’s Keychain, it never syncs to another device, and it goes nowhere except the provider you picked. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

2 · Get a key

Pick a provider on the second step of the setup screen. The button there opens that provider’s own console, and the four steps below are the ones you follow once you are there.

Sending the clip

Google’s models are the only ones of the three that watch video rather than still frames, so the Google step carries one extra switch: Send the clip to the coach. It is off until you turn it on. With it on, a review sends a trimmed, re-encoded copy of that one swing — from just before address to just after the finish, no audio — to your own Google account, in place of the stills. With it off, nothing changes: measurements and stills, as with the other two. Either way it goes nowhere but the provider you picked.

3 · Paste and verify

Back in Strobe, paste the key into the third step and tap Verify. The app makes the smallest request the provider offers — a listing of the models your account can reach — so it can tell you straight away whether the key works. On success the Coach row reads Connected with the provider and the model beside it.

If it does not work, the app says which of three things happened rather than shrugging: the key was refused (check you copied all of it), there is no network, or the account is rate limited and it is worth trying again in a moment.

Changing or removing the key

Open Settings → Coach → Coach setup at any time. The stored key is shown masked — the prefix and the last four characters, never the whole thing — with Re-check, Replace key and Remove beside it. Removing the key switches coaching off and leaves every review already saved with your swings readable.

Which model

The Model row in Settings offers three tiers — Fast, Quality, Premium — and resolves each one to the matching model from whichever provider you connected. Fast answers in a few seconds; Premium reads subtler positions and takes longer.
